Royal Opera House Debut

In February, Rafael Payare makes his company debut at London’s Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, leading Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia. The production stars Aigul Akhmetshina, Andrzej Filończyk, Lawrence Brownlee and Bryn Terfel. Of Payare’s performance of the same opera at Glyndebourne in 2019, the Financial Times wrote: “Payare’s conducting is just the right blend of precision and panache, prompting a performance full of character.”
