Guest Conducting The Philadelphia Orchestra

Nov 1, 2023

This December 1–3, Payare returns to lead The Philadelphia Orchestra in a program that pairs Mahler’s First Symphony with the U.S. premiere of Jimmy López Bellido’s Ephemerae, a Philadelphia Orchestra co-commission, with pianist Javier Perianes as soloist for the piece.

Payare made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2021, leading Dvořák’s Seventh Symphony, as well as Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture and the world premiere of Jacob Bancks’s Clarinet Concerto. The Wall Street Journal praised Payare’s performances in Philadelphia, calling him “a fireball of energy onstage,” and proclaiming: “He is a musician to watch.”
